Say hello to my 100000th visitor.

screenshot of SiteMeter report for 100000th visitorWoot! After being online for more than six years, my website got the onehundredthousandth visitor. It’s been a while and quite a few things have happened during this time. A blog was added, the layout changed a bit here and there (mostly on the main home page) and quite a bit of video and text content was uploaded. Some of the changes to the website can be tracked in the Internet Archive’s WayBackMachine.

Late christmas revelation.

Whoa! Today I noticed that the visit count for this website has crossed the 50.000 mark – if I interpret my SiteMeter statistics correctly, the 50.000 visitor must have clicked her or his way to this site on the 23rd or 24th of December.
I want to take this as an occassion to thank all of those who spend a bit of their time on this site. I sincerely hope that I was able to provide something of interest to you – although I do fear that all those who were googling marlene dietrich were not particularly intrigued on visiting this site…

Well visited and clicked at.

This month all records were broken: My website had almost 1500 visitors performing more than 2200 clicks on my site. Check out the development as shown by SiteMeter, which I am using to analyse the visits to my site:
SiteMeter graph displaying the amount of visits and page views on my site for the last yearNeat, isn’t it? Although I guess the trend as visible in this graph will not continue – April traditionally is a weak month traffic-wise.

End of summer.

This time of year also has a positive effect: the visitor/page view numbers for my site are increasing considerably. During the summer months both the total number of visits and the number of page views per visit are lower than they are in the rest of the year. For my site, the increase seems to begin in mid-september. I will keep you informed if the high-plateau has already been reached, or if the increase will continue into November. (Currently I have about 1.100 visitors per month with an average of about 1.6 page views per visit.)

More information about you.

Me? Yes, about you. SiteMeter, the service which I use to analyze the traffic on my site, seems to have upgraded its statistic tools so that their diagrams now differentiate between Netscape and Mozilla browsers (the detailed reports of single visits always did) and between Classic Mac OS and Mac OS X systems (again, the detailed reports show the information as provided by the browser, which usually includes such information). These are welcome additions which I have missed for quite some time in their diagrams.
By the way: the percentage of people accessing my site with Netscape 4.x browsers has dropped below 0.5% now…

Significant growth in Linux share.

Hear, hear: in the course of the last weeks my web server log service (SiteMeter) reports a growing amount of visitors using Linux… How could that be? ;-)
