National Desks - Scandinavia
The organisational activities have focused on the recruitment and preparation for a Nordic desk. This envisages approach and dialogue with research institutions from Denmark and Sweden as well as industrial actors (Nord Pool, Norsk Hydro, Statnett, Södra Cell, Vattenfall, Greenstream). Arrangements are being made with Danish companies. The following governmental institutions will be involved: ENOVA, NVE, STEM (Sweden, Gasnova) as well as nature conservation organisations.
The envisaged activities are: data gathering and preparation of interviews with Nordic stakeholders in September, a number of “Nordic Desk” workshops and seminars. National consultations will be arranged through stakeholder dialogue as well as workshops and seminars that supplement the general project agenda.
Various workshops have been (co-) organised so far.
On January 13-14, 2005 a
Workshop on Green electricity trading
a took place.
This was followed on June 15, 2005
by a
Workshop on the future energy-system in the Nordic Countries
with broad industry, researcher and regulatory agency participation. This event was co-hosted with the Nordic Power Pool, that also runs the climate and green certificate markets.
On October 5, 2005 a
Nordic workshop on green certificate trading and CO2 markets
drawing in part on research conducted under the EU- REALISE Project.
The presentations and discussions covered policy contexts, market development and business strategies. The seminar gathered more than 60 participants from Nordic and North European Energy Industry as well as researchers, Civil Servants NGOs.
On February 9, 2006, an
Expert group panel discussing climate issues, energy issues and CSR issues
was co-hosted by the Centre for Corporate Citizenship.
On May 30-31, 2006, an
Energy Conference in Oslo
was co-hosted by the Energy Forum International.
Between August and October 2005 the activities of the Scandinavian desk concentrated on systematic interviews with stakeholders.
The reporting activities shall comprehend:
- an article comparing the nordic green certificate market to the UK and Dutch system,

a comparative analysis of electricity and greening issues in the public debate in the Nordic countries,
-
a comparative analysis of policy-instruments and organisational issues,
-
a comparative analysis of stakeholder positions on greening of energy industry.
