The crisis in Ukraine has been under the international spotlight for more than a year. Yet, world leaders still cannot find a viable solution despite continuous negotiations. It is thus high time to gather fresh perspectives on the resolution of this crisis. This sets the stage for the event "Ukraine - Debating for Peace" which will take place on 13 June 2015 from 6 to 8 pm at Freie Universität Berlin (Ihnestr. 22, room G22). Four teams of students will present their proposals for a solution of the Ukraine crisis to the audience, which will then vote for the group with the most convincing proposal and debating skills. The groups’ proposals, representing the four negotiation parties’ major positions as well as own ideas, have previously been developed by the students under the guidance of Dr. Nelli Babayan and Dr. Julia Langbein (both MAXCAP).
The debate is MAXCAP’s contribution to the Long Night of Science at Freie Universität Berlin, which is taking place on Saturday, 13 June 2015. Through vivid lectures, guided tours, interactive experiments, readings, panel discussions, workshops, and more, visitors are able to gain impressions of new research results from basic and applied research and interdisciplinary collaboration. Researchers from all the departments and institutes at Freie Universität are on hand to explain their innovative research.
Please find more information on the debate, as well as the Long Night of Science, here (in German).
