Central European University (CEU), Budapest, is a leading research university in the social sciences and humanities in Eastern Europe. It is accredited both in the United States and the EU, and it stresses academic excellence and public policy relevance of its teaching and research. CEU’s Department of Political Science has a long record of instruction and research in the area of the democratic transformation in Central and Eastern Europe, its European dimension and its economic underpinnings. Faculty and doctoral students of the department participate presently in nine research projects funded under the EU’s 6th or 7th Framework Programme. CEU’s Political Economy Research Group is a joint graduate student-faculty group which brings together members from several CEU departments. It fosters collaborative in the fields of international and comparative political economy, concentrating primarily on the area of Central and Eastern Europe. Faculty and doctoral students of PERG are currently involved in three research projects funded under the EU’s 7th Framework Programme.
