... der Name "Kleier" stammt von der Arbeit mit Kleiboden ab (abgeleitet von "kleben", auch engl."clay": Tonerde), kleien. Ein Kleier war ein Tagelöhner, der Gräben in der Marsch aushob bzw. reinigte.

...aber: möglicherweise ist es aber auch alles ganz anders, denn ich habe dies hier gefunden: "klein [bedeutet], das Getreide zusammenraffen. Vgl. afrapen. Dazu Kleier, der das Getreide zusammenrafft, hindern Meier (Mäher) geit de Kleier." ...hmmm ...wo kommt der Name nun eigentlich wirklich her?

Dorothy was born, after timber stopped worked as janitor in church in Merrill; also lived in Minocqua & Star Rt. 1, Woodruff, WI; worked as fishing guide while living in Boulder Junction WI in 1950's, 10005 Crab Lake, Manitowish, acc. to Janice (Teske)Rayala, had laun dromat in Boulder Junction, acc to obit of 2nd wife, moved to Merrill in 1960, acc to Elaine (Teske) Ruprecht, 7/89, "Scot" (Skat) was his favorite card game; darkeyebrows went up & down w hen he played trombone (in City Band), acc to Mary (Hiatt) Mailander, 7/89, Bill never swore,drank or played cards until he met his 3rd wife, Alice Budreau, acc to Merrill City Directory, lived w/ Mary (Hamsing) Teske at Van Renselaer & 2nd, 1900 census, living with parents at 405 7th St., Merrill; ae. 17, laborer in sash factory;not naturalized, postcard, dated 6-9-13, Fo rt Frances, Ont., to ?, Dear Brother, . . . I'm out here with Jul [his brother Jules] riding carrige [sic] the head end, worked in town for a week but am doing better out here am getting $ 3.00 a day and a quarter hold back... Your brother Wm. He thereaf ter forebade any contact with Hamsings! even to extent that daughters were unaware when their Hamsing grandparents died. But later she adds: he was on good terms with the Binskis,parents of Bertha Hamsing
