The principal aim of the second Thematic Network Project in the Area of Languages (TNP2 for short), which started on 1 September 2000, is to develop proposals for improvements and innovations in higher education programmes in the area of languages.
 

The project is structured into the following layers:

• Project coordinator / project manager / Central Coordination Unit

• Coordinating Committee

• Steering Committees

• Scientific Committees

A total of 75 institutions of higher education from all the participating countries and 8 academic associations operating at European level are involved in the project.
 

• Curriculum innovation
• New learning environments - the European learning space
• Quality enhancement in language studies

In the first year of the project, National Reports were prepared which focused on innovative developments in the areas covered by the project. The National Reports  have been synthesized by the  Steering Committees of the three sub-projects.
