Even the simple queries discussed in Section 2 are a powerful tool for linguistic research – there are many research questions that can be investigated using only the possibilities introduced there. However, many research designs require more complex queries, and even the ones that do not can be carried out more efficiently with additional techniques. These are introduced in the following seven sections.

You can read these sections in any order – all of them build on Sections 1 and 2, but they do not build on each other.
