You might have noticed that many of the stories that Gossamer archives have a "source" line included in their headers. Gossamer archives fiction from several different sources, including a newsgroup and mailing lists. These are all public forums where you can post fanfic and receive immediate feedback from readers.

Newsgroups are part of Usenet, an online discussion network that's a couple of decades older than the world wide web.
One of the biggest questions that web-based people have is "How do I access the newsgroup?" Although newsgroups can be accessed, in some cases, using web software such as Mozilla, or, in other cases, using e-mail software such as Outlook Express, Usenet is not part of the web or e-mail. It is its own distinct forum, with its own set of rules and customs. Most Internet Service Providers provide access to a "news/usenet server." Please consult your ISP's help pages to discover how to set up your software and access the newsgroup. This site appears to be pretty helpful in that regard. Do not ask us; we can't help you.
alt.tv.x-files.creative is the oldest forum for posting and discussing X-Files fan fiction and related topics. Please lurk a while before you jump in; the newsgroup has its own customs and personalities.

X-Files-Fanfic is the oldest automated X-Files fan fiction mailing list. It is a fiction-only list (no discussion) and accepts all types and genres of fan fiction. Fanfic discussion takes place on its companion mailing list, Fictalk.

eXtreme Possibilities (EP) is an e-mail list for people who want to read and write fan fiction about "The X-Files" that specifically involves a romantic take on Mulder and Scully's relationship. This can range from the understated Unresolved Sexual Tension (UST) that already exists on the show on one end to a full romantic relationship or even marriage between the characters on the other.
