How do I revise my story?

If you want to revise a story before it has been posted to the site, please submit the revision to submit@gossamer.org, with a subject line in the format: Title by Author REVISED.

Revisions of stories already posted to the archive should be sent to revisions@gossamer.org, with a subject line in the format: Title by Author. If the revision is received in an acceptable format, it will be posted with the next update.

A revision sent to either address only a few days prior to an update may not be processed in time for that update. We recommend NOT submitting your story until it is ready to be published.


How do I revise my database entry?

Because categories and keywords are not fully standard across the fan fiction community, Gossamer may be forced to infer these fields from the information given. Gossamer may use any information provided by the author in the text prior to the story itself to construct the database entry. We also modify that information as necessary to conform to the Gossamer standards. If you find that you dislike the information that Gossamer has gathered from your story, please contact Gossamer at help@gossamer.org and we will try to modify the entry to your satisfaction, within the Gossamer standards.

How Do I Change . . .

How do I change my pen name?

If you need to change your pen name, please contact Gossamer at help@gossamer.org from an e-mail address associated with your stories. Include your former pen name, your new pen name, your new e-mail address and a list of stories that needs this change.

Pen name changes require changes to both the database and the text files on the archive. If you can, we request that you revise and resubmit all stories requiring a pen name change to revisions@gossamer.org. In this situation, changes to both the database and text files will appear with the next update.

If you cannot submit revised text files, Gossamer can do file revisions for you. In this situation, the database pen name changes will appear in the next update, and file changes may appear over the next few updates. We attempt to do all file changes in time for the next update, but in cases where many files need to be revised, it may take some additional time.


How do I change my e-mail address?

If you need to change your e-mail address, please contact Gossamer at help@gossamer.org from your old e-mail address to provide us with your new e-mail address. Due to past abuse, if Gossamer cannot independently verify that you are the author, we reserve the right to accept or reject e-mail address changes at our discretion. This is why it is important that you communicate with Gossamer from an e-mail address publicly associated with your author name or your stories.


How do I remove my story?

To remove a single story or all of your stories, please contact Gossamer at help@gossamer.org from an e-mail address associated with your stories and provide a list of stories to be removed. Due to past abuse, if Gossamer cannot independently verify that you are the author, we reserve the right to accept or reject removal requests at our discretion. This is why it is important that you communicate with Gossamer from an e-mail address publicly associated with your author name or your stories. Removals are only performed when the sites are updated and may take up to sixty days.
