The R package spatstat supports statistical analysis for spatial point patterns. Its main focus is the analysis of spatial patterns of points in
two-dimensional space. The points may carry auxiliary data (marks) and the spatial region in which the points were recorded may have an arbitrary shape.

The package supports:

• creation, manipulation and plotting of point patterns
  
• exploratory data analysis
  
• simulation of point process models
  
• parametric model-fitting
  
• hypothesis tests
  
• residual plots and model diagnostics
