In this section on geostatistics we are going to work with the following spatial data sets.
Lake bathymetry and chemical sediment data of Lake Rangsdorf. Lake Rangsdorf is located south of Berlin, at the southern margin of the Teltow Plateau and a former proglacial drainage system, the "Rangsdorf-Thyrow-Abflussbahn". Lake Rangsdorf is an eutrophic to hypertrophic lake suffering from heavy algae blooms in the summer season. Lake bathymetry and chemical sediment data of Lake Rangsdorf was obtained during a field campaign in 2017.
Weather station data. Annual weather data, primarily temperature and rainfall data to demonstrate different interpolation methods. The data is provided by Deutscher Wetterdienst (DWD) (German Weather Service). The data is available on the DWD data portal.
SRTM digital elevation model (DEM) for Germany. The data was retrieved from OPENDEM on June 25, 2017.
Shapefiles of Germany: provided by the German Federal Agency for Cartography and Geodesy (under this licence). You may directly download the shapefiles here.
