MAXCAP co-coordinator Antoaneta Dimitrova discusses with practitioners, politicians, civil society and journalists in Skopje whether a new EU approach towards Western Balkans is feasible?

On the invitation of the European Policy Institute - Skopje, Dr. Antoaneta Dimitrova, Associate Professor at Leiden University, participated on the round table “Is a new EU approach to the Balkans feasible?” that was held in Skopje, Macedonia, on March 17th. 

Dr. Dimitrova presented the findings of the MAXCAP project and discussed jointly with politicians, practitioners and civil society about the prospects and pitfalls of EU leverage and the Balkan’s transformation. Two members of the MAXCAP Advisory Board, Dr. Klaudijus Maniokas and Dr. Malinka Ristevska Jordanova, also participated at the round table. The other panelist included the current and the former Vice Prime Minister for European Affairs of the Government of Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Fatmir Besimi and Ms. Radmila Sekerinska, Dr. Milada Vachudova, Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Ms. Juliana Nikolova from the Center for Policy Modernization Sofia etc. 

At the sidelines of the event a briefing with the media was organized by MAXCAP partner BCSDN, and Dr. Dimitrova in an in-person interview spoke about the challenges, limits and prospects for the EU integration process of Macedonia.
