Welcome!

This homepage is specifically directed towards participating institutes of the project „New Curricula for Teaching International Relations: A Task for Regional Institutions in Central and Eastern Europe". The project is financed by a private German foundation, the Volkswagen-Stiftung, for the duration of two years. The department for politics at the Institute for Eastern European Studies of the Free University, Berlin is the main coordinator of the project.
 

What we focus on ...

• Our aim is to establish an international network for teaching and research. 
• We concentrate on networking activities among universities and institutes from Eastern Europe. 
• We contact researchers, who teach International Relations and focus on theory as well as on empirical work. 

By means of common workshops, bi- and multilateral exchanges and the elaboration of different theory and issue papers we would like to work on new teaching material for students of International Relations. The result of this project should be a textbook on International Relations with a specifically Eastern European orientation.
This way empirical case studies will show relevance for present political, economic and social conditions in the countries of Central Europe and the Former Soviet Union. Also, the vivid discussion about IR theory will gain an Eastern European perspective.
