Objectives
To provide an international forum for discussing the key issues and problems
currently faced by manufacturers, service providers and telecommunications
companies and their regulators in the area of mobile services. The workshop
is international and is run by practitioners for practitioners in a
"hands-on" approach so that alternative approaches can be
demonstrated and compared.
Participants
The workshop is intended for anyone in the mobile service sector, who is
involved in planning and decision-making. In addition researchers from
academic or financial institutions involved in the study of the sector may
also benefit from the workshop.
Workshop Approach
Pricing, marketing, product positioning, standardization, frequency
allocation, internationalization and roaming have been at the heart of
decision-making in the mobile service sector. With the move towards a
competitive industry structure and the overlap between fixed and mobile
services a workshop analyzing the key issues in the recent history of the
industry and its likely evolution, is timely, not only to aid in the ongoing
decision-making process, but also to understand the motives behind the moves
of competitors and regulators.
