About the Department: The Department of Psychology has grown rapidly over the last few years. There are now 15 full-time and 5 part-time teaching staff. Some 70 students are recruited to the Honours degree in psychology and the entry requirements are among the highest in the University. The Department is proud of its longstanding tradition of high quality teaching and relations with students are excellent. We have an open door policy for students. The Department is responsible for the MSc Applied Psychology (Learning Disability) and the MSc Child Forensic Studies: Psychology and Law. The study will follow an established cohort of children in South and West Wales, monitoring cognitive development (by Bayley Scales and other appropriate measures) along side visual function (assessed by an Optometrist, who is already appointed). The study involves home visits, so a driving licence is essential. Applications from psychologist with a background in infant development, or special needs, would be particularly welcome.
