will hold full-time appointments in an educational 
institution during the Fellowship year. 
 
Psychology applicants must hold a doctoral degree in 
psychology granted after June 1991 and be in full-time 
training or hold full-time appointments in an educational 
institution during the Fellowship year. 
Applicants may be nominated by their Department Chairs or 
Training Directors.  Self-nominations will also be 
considered.  Applicants need not be planning to become 
psychoanalysts. The term of the Fellowship is 
July 1, 1996 through June 30, 1997.

All applicants, whether or not they receive Fellowships,
will be assigned senior psychoanalysts as Mentors.  
Applicants will meet regularly with their Mentors and 
develop individual programs to further their clinical, 
scholarly and research interests. 

Fellows will have all expenses paid at the Spring and 
Mid-Winter meetings of the Association.  They will attend
scientific sessions and present clinical and other material
at a variety of workshops and seminars.  They will receive 
subscriptions to many psychoanalytic publications, books 
from a variety of presses and be invited to participate in
the activities of the Former Fellows Organization. 

NOMINEES SHOULD:
 - have demonstrated special aptitude or interest in 
   psychodynamic psychiatry or psychology and related
   clinical endeavors; or,
 - have engaged in study or research related to 
   psychoanalytic topics or the application of
   psychoanalysis to psychiatry or psychology; or,
 - have indicated in other ways a special interest in 
   psychoanalysis; and,
 - they should have demonstrated leadership ability in
   past activities.

FACULTY POSITIONS - UNIVERSITY OF NORTH DAKOTA 

The Psychology Department at the University of North 
Dakota is recruiting two full-time assistant professor 
tenure-track positions for Fall, 1996. Requirements include:
a Ph.D. in psychology (received or expected prior to 9/1/96);
a strong commitment to research and teaching at the 
undergraduate and graduate levels; evidence of scholarly 
productivity (commensurate with experience); the ability to 
establish and maintain an active, independent research
program; evidence of quality teaching skills/potential. 
Successful candidates will be expected to participate in the
department's undergraduate and graduate programs (fully 
accredited Ph.D. program in Clinical Psychology and Ph.D. 
program in General/Experimental Psychology). Members of

12: Nonclinical Psychologist

Specialty open; however, candidates with research/teaching 
interests in industrial/organizational psychology and/or 
quantitative methods are preferred. 

13: Clinical Psychologist

Candidates with research/clinical interests in child/
pediatric/family issues, neuropsychology, and/or forensic 
issues are preferred. Our Ph.D. clinical program (fully 
accredited by APA since 1972) is organized and functions 
within the scientist-practitioner training model; we are 
seeking a clinical psychologist trained accordingly who 
desires to be an integral part of such a training program.

16: Faculty Position in Behavioral Medicine

The Department of Psychology at the University of Memphis
invites applications for a tenure-track position at the 
Assistant Professor level in Behavioral Medicine.  We are 
seeking an active scholar who shows promise of developing 
a nationally recognized program of research, ability to
secure extramural funding, has interests in teaching, and 
is committed to training at the doctoral level.  
Requirements include a doctorate in a health-related field.
We have preference for a candidate in clinical psychology 
but we strongly encourage all applicants with research 
interests in health psychology, behavioral medicine, or 
related disciplines (e.g., behavioral epidemiology, 
public health) to apply.  Salary for the position is 
competitive and research support is available through a 
Centers of Excellence grant awarded to the Department by 
the state of Tennessee.  Our department currently employs 
32 full-time faculty and offers Ph.D. degrees in clinical 
psychology; experimental psychology; and in school

17: Faculty Position in Child and Family Studies

The Department of Psychology at the University of Memphis
invites applications for a tenure-track position (pending
final funding approval) at the Assistant Professor level 
in the area of Child and Family Studies. Successful 
candidates must possess a terminal degree in psychology or
related discipline.  The faculty of the Child and Family 
Studies Research Group consists of child-clinical, 
developmental, and school psychologists and represents a 
melding of basic and applied research interests. Researchers
in any of these three areas of psychology are encouraged to
apply.  Duties include teaching and research in the area of
child and family studies.  In the case of child-clinical, 
family therapy, and school psychology applicants, it is 
expected that they will also provide supervision within 
the clinical and school psychology programs; such applicants
must be licensable for such services.  The Child and Family
Studies programs are part of the Center for Applied 
Psychological Research designated as an accomplished Center 
of Excellence in the state of Tennessee, which provides 
ongoing funding of research activities. Evaluations of

The University of Guam is looking for administrators who

NATURE OF WORK:
It will be the major responsibility of the Dean to mobilize

of the students.  Through effective leadership, and in 
consultation and collaboration with other members of the

Under the general direction of the Vice President for 
Academic Affairs, the Dean directs and coordinates student 
programs, leads the University community in issues related 
to student personnel policy, programs and administration, 
and represents the administration in eliciting feedback 
and cooperation from student organizations.  Prepares budget 
and directs appropriations of student services unit.  
Represents student services programs and activities to 
funding sources and to the community at large.  Supervises 
Financial Aid Office, Student Housing, Counseling, Career 
Planning and Health Services, Upward Bound, Educational 
Talent Search, Student Support Services, and Student Life 
Office.  The Dean oversees 12 professionals and a staff of 30.

  affairs.
- Experience with grant writing and/or management.
- Willingness to participate in Student Affairs professional

- Demonstrated knowledge and preferred experience with Pacific 
  Island cultures.

SALARY: Q1 $64,256 - Q3 $78,167 PER ANNUM

BENEFITS/RELOCATION:
The University provides relocation assistance for the new
employee if hired off-island.  Benefits include airfare 
for the new employee and dependents and shipment of household
goods from the point of hire (3,500 pound weight limit for 
employee with dependents or 1,750 limit for employee without
dependents).  Other benefits include subsidized 
hospitalization and medical plans, life insurance, and the 
option to join the Government of Guam Retirement Plan.
