1. JOURNALS
=================================================================

A. Journal of Behavior Analysis and Therapy (jBAT)
   -----------------------------------------------
The Journal of Behavior Analysis and Therapy (jBAT) will be a
peer-reviewed journal of basic behavior analysis, applied
behavior analysis and behavior theory and therapy. The journal
will have full graphical capabilities as well. The editorial
board of jBAT is composed of an international assemblage of
behavior analysts, behavior therapists, and behavioral
theoreticians. Sections of jBAT will be devoted to behavioral
assessment, behavior therapy (child and adult), and other
cutting edge behavioral research in applied behavior analysis,
behavioral medicine, behavioral pharmacology, organizational
behavior management, development and behavior analysis,
behavior analysis and education, and methodological issues in
behavior analysis. A section of jBAT will also be dedicated to
student issues and research in behavior analysis and therapy.
Another section of jBAT will be devoted to reviewing and
abstracting other cutting edge research in basic and applied
behavior analysis. Comprehensive review articles are welcome on
a topic relevant to behavior analysis, broadly defined.

In short, the journal would be a comprehensive treatment of
advances in behavior analysis and therapy, integrating basic
behavioral research, and cutting across the disciplines of
behavior analysis and behavior therapy. This type of journal
does not even appear in the printed area at present. The
coupling of this new format for the integration of behavior
analysis and behavior therapy, as well as the use of the
Internet for rapid dissemination of empirical data and reviews
over the World Wide Web puts this project in a unique position
in the history of our scientific discipline.

2. MAILING LISTS
=================================================================

A. Human Services Research Institute Lists
   ---------------------------------------
EVALTEN - Evaluation Methodology & Statistics
The purpose of the EVALTEN mailing list is to provide
assistance, information and contacts regarding: (1) issues in
evaluation, (2) experimental and quasi-experimental design, (3)
instrument and survey development, and (4) statistical analysis
for mental health systems evaluation. The Network will foster
discussion on technical topics such as longitudinal data
analysis, cluster analysis, discriminant function analysis and
factor analysis. And it will welcome discussions about: (1)
challenges in designing and implementing evaluations in natural
settings, (2) ways of promoting the utilization of evaluation
results; and (3) the role of social, cultural and political
factors in evaluations.

LEGALTEN - Legal & Forensic Issues in Mental Health
The purpose of the LEGALTEN mailing list is to facilitate the
implementation and use of rigorous evaluations at the interface
of the mental health system, the criminal justice system, and
the courts. The Network will cover such diverse areas as
evaluation of: (1) the effects of litigation directed toward
mental health service system reform; (2) changes in the
delivery of mental health services to persons in the custody of
the criminal justice system; and (3) the effects of reform in
specific areas of mental health law, such as changes in civil
commitment criteria, implementation or revision of outpatient
commitment statutes and practices, and changes in the insanity
defense. Discussion of the law and mental health inevitably
raise value-laden issues. This list welcomes discussions of
these issues that lead to evaluation efforts or make use of
evaluation information.

NHCTEN - Managed Health Care Reform
The purpose of the NHCTEN mailing list is to discuss the
evaluation of managed care initiatives and other state and
national health care reforms as they may affect the delivery of
mental health care and substance abuse treatment services at
the state and local level. In particular, we are concerned with
how such changes should be evaluated at the system,
institutional, program or consumer level.

OUTCMTEN - Outcomes Evaluation
The purpose of the OUTCMTEN mailing list is to develop a broad
collective expertise with respect to problems of assessing and
analyzing outcomes of interventions aimed at improving mental
health systems. The existence of such a network will both
foster and facilitate communications among all mental health
system stakeholders to improve measurement and, consequently,
understanding of interventions and their effects.

B. Early Career Preventionists Network
   -----------------------------------
The Early Career Preventionists Network (ECPN) is an Internet-
based group of researchers, practitioners, and advocates
dedicated to fostering the development of prevention scientists
who are just beginning their professional careers (e.g., pre-
doctoral candidates; post-doctoral fellows; assistant
professors; practitioners, educators, administrators, and
advocates who either have just begun their careers or have been
in the field for a few years; senior researchers interested in
serving supportive functions).

We define "prevention science" as scientific efforts ultimately
devoted to developing interventions that promote the
psychological, social, intellectual, and physical functioning
of all members of society. Thus, we welcome representatives
from all areas of research, clinical, and advocacy work. At
present, many of our members have interests in the prevention
of mental health problems that arise during childhood. However,
as a group, we are interested in promoting, encouraging, and
supporting prevention efforts at all points along the
developmental spectrum.

E. PNEWS-L on LISTSERV@sjuvm.stjohns.edu
   -------------------------------------
A primary object of PNEWS-L is to provide cultural and
intellectual space for people to learn more about various
"Left" perspectives, traditions, ideas, and alternatives. We
also attempt to build _SOLIDARITY_ and a _COALITION_ for peace
& justice and to study ways to overcome disintegration and
fragmentation on the LEFT. In addition thereto, PNEWS
CONFERENCES are based on certain definitive indisputable
propositions: that all men and womyn are entitled to basic
rights, to wit: good and affordable health care, food, shelter,
livable wages, equal rights and opportunities and a guiding
principle is our opposition to racism, anti-Semitism, gay
bashing, chauvinism, sexism, etc. Thus, we also discuss a
myriad of issues pursuant to those propositions in an effort to
provide better understanding for their root causes and the
agendas around them. PNEWS CONFERENCES examine those issues
that cause despair and alienation.

H. PAIN-L on listserv@sjuvm.stjohns.edu
   ------------------------------------
PAIN-L will include a broad range of topics: i.e., the
philosophical approach to dealing or coping with these
anomalies and examine the frustration that patients feel about
what is perceived to be a lack of responsiveness and inadequate
information.

On PAIN-L we'll discuss the many ramifications of pain:
Political, Ecological and ALL other aspects of pain; and that
which causes pain; medical science's answers; holistic
approaches; and the dark side of emotional pain that we too
often keep hidden inside ourselves. Just about anything at all
to do with pain. Pain and suffering, two sides of the same
coin. While we can't always eliminate the pain, we can do
something about the suffering. We can establish philosophical
constructs to help us deal with man-made and physical
suffering. And we can take a path which may reduce some pain.
If science is the answer we can look at science critically. We
can compare anecdotes and out of all our experiences perhaps a
bit of understanding may come?

I. PsyNetCA on aol.com
   -------------------
PsyNetCA@aol.com has been established as an expedient conduit
for information exchange among practicing psychologists in
California. It is non-commercial, has no subscription fees, and
is closed to the general public. Topics discussed are practice
management, healthcare administration, state and federal
legislation, and clinical resources. Among subscribers,
volunteers monitor print media, other Internet lists and
electronic media to scan information relevant to practitioners.
This information is electronically forwarded to PsyNetCA,
allowing subscribers access to a much wider range of
information than anyone could monitor independently.

For those psychologists without current Internet access, but
who have a Mac or IBM-compatible computer with a hard drive and
as little as one meg of RAM, contact Dr. Maheu for information
on the simplest and least expensive means of obtaining Internet
access. Her fax is 1-619- 294-8181.

K. SWCO on LISTSERV@COLOSTATE.EDU
   ------------------------------
Social Workers of Colorado

A social work list specifically dedicated to the social work
practitioners, students, and educators in the state of
Colorado. As a MSW student, it has occurred to me that as the
current politically conservative trend gains momentum, and we
witness the further de-centralization of services, social
workers in this state are going to need to do a great deal of
networking if we are to adequately meet the needs of our
clients.

This list is an unmoderated list, and should offer us a
suitable forum for the discussion of the many issues that are
currently confronting the social work community in Colorado, as
well as other places. While this list is for professionals in
this state, any interested parties are encouraged to subscribe.

We are currently in the process of compiling a database of
internet resources for social workers. Currently there are
about 75 different items in the database (lists and www
homepages), and these are frequently posted to the list. I am
making an attempt to update and post these resources to the
list on a weekly basis.
