The Chair, Carlo diClemente, also serves as Director of the Human Services Psychology (HSP) program. His research concerns the stages and processes of intentional behavior change; addictive behaviors, self-efficacy, psychotherapy integration, health promotion and protection. The Community-Social track of the HSP program is directed by Kenneth Maton, a community psychologist. One of his primary research interests focuses on community settings as resources for empowerment and prevention. Additional interests focus on parenting and educating successful African-American youth, program evaluations of educational interventions in Baltimore, stress and coping among adolescents, qualitative research, religion, and self-help groups.
