Psychology. Teaching responsibilities include developing and

regularly helping to teach introductory psychology,

interests in the following possible areas:

Cognitive/Developmental: Broadly defined areas of research
interest could include: spatial cognition, attention,
language, perception or problem solving during development.

Smith College School for Social Work invites applications
for two full-time faculty positions, at the Assistant and
Associate Professor levels.  Teaching opportunities are
available in both the Master's and Doctoral Programs.  The
School offers a unique opportunity for a clinical scholar-
practitioner to teach across two or more sequences (i.e.,
Social Work Practice, HB/SE, Social Welfare Services &
Policy, Research), advise master degree theses and/or
doctoral dissertations and act as a faculty liaison within a
national network of agency affiliations.  All full time
faculty are assigned some administrative responsibility.

Building on a long tradition, the School has a mission of
excellence in education for clinical social work.  The
educational program is organize on the "Block Plan" a
carefully devised sequence of intensive academic sessions
on campus in the summer, followed by intervening field
internships September through April.  The School enrolls
approximately 300 master's students and 30 students in the
Doctoral program.  There are 100 agency internship
affiliations in 20 geographic areas across the country.  The
School is also committed to the support of service delivery
to vulnerable clients in nearby urban communities.

Smith College is part of a Five College Consortium which
affords access to a wide variety of cultural and educational
opportunities. In recent years the School has increased

Qualifications: A master's degree from an accredited School
of Social Work and a doctorate in social work of a closely

undergraduate teaching at all levels.

CLINICAL/COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGIST able to teach and examine
the therapeutic process from a multiplicity of schools of
psychology and to explore the nature of psychology and the
therapeutic process from disciplines outside of psychology
itself.

Required: experience in private practice or in a client-
oriented position in an institution or agency; experience or
expertise in working across cultural differences (e.g. race,
gender, class, age, sexual orientation), with the ability
to integrate such experience with teaching; knowledge and
ability to teach current issues such as ethics, managed care
and contemporary changing models (for example ecopsychology,
transpersonal and transcultural psychology); licensure or
license eligibility in Washington State in
psychology/counseling or social work. Experience supervising
psychology interns is preferred. Ability to teach a
secondary area such as developmental psychology is an
additional strength. Experience with learning communities
and nontraditional approaches to higher education is
preferred. MSW, Ph.D. or Psy.D. from APA approved program
strongly preferred.

SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGIST able to teach foundation level social
psychology as well as more advanced material addressing the
history and scientific study of social psychology and its
relationship to the social sciences and other branches of
psychology. Qualified candidates must be able to teach
qualitative and quantitative research methods and all
topics within social psychology. Experience working in the
public or private sector is desirable. Ph.D. or ABD strongly
preferred. These are regular faculty positions: typical
first appointment is 3-year term contract, eligible for
permanent appointment after 3-6 years of full-time teaching
at Evergreen.
