The Mailing List "PsychNews International"

The PsychNews International An Online Publication  is an independent electronic Internet-based publication distributed at no cost to professionals, students, and others interested in issues related to the mental health profession. The PsychNews is one of the oldest, if not the oldest publication of its kind.

The PsychNews (or short: PN/PNI), formerly titled the InterPsych Newsletter (IPN) (Editor's main archives at www.psychnews.net/ix.htm & US archives at mentalhelp.net/ipn/), see below for other archives) and associated with the organization InterPsych © has been in existence since 1996 and serves thousands of readers as one of the first and premier sources of its kind on the Internet. We are proud to state that the PsychNews is the source for international news and information in psychology and psychiatry.

PsychNews Int'l publishes articles on current events in mental health, updates from relevant Internet discussion groups, as well as original research and theoretical articles. PN also contains reports on new mental health resources on the Internet, conferences, and it may include employment, and announcement listings.

A major focus is on the relationship of new communication & information technologies and psychology -- both as a tool and as a subject of research.
A second focus, related to the first, applies to other technologies, particularly microprocessor/PC-based ones for mental-health-related issues.
Third, we want to provide a forum for opinions and facts (essays, articles, news, research and so forth) that may not necessarily meet the criteria of "mainstream psychology" -- we are impartial and accept contributions from all countries, schools, and theories pertaining to mental health
Lastly, we are trying very, very hard to do the "International" in Psychnews International justice. Past issues of the PNI have been quite US-dominated. Starting with issue 6(2) in 2001, we will place a heavy emphasis on international contributions, particularly with the aim of serving as a means of transnational networking in the mental-health related disciplines

The PsychNews Listserv is a "send only " mailing list which means the list is used solely for the purpose of distributing the PN.

Joining the PsychNews International Staff

PNISTAFF-L is a private list for the staff of the PsychNews International.

The staff is international and consists of researchers and practitioners in psychology and psychiatry, producing the PsychNews International on a voluntary, uncompensated basis.

If you are interested in joining us, please send an email to the coordinator, and the following command to MAJORDOMO@ZRZ.TU-BERLIN.DE in the BODY of e-mail:

SUBSCRIBE pnistaff-L

Your subscription request will be sent to the coordinator for approval.

You will not be added to the list pnistaff-l if you have not explicitly written a direct request

e.g. being added to the staff is a two-step procedure: (1) Issuing the necessary listserv commands for pnistaff-l, and (2) identifying yourself, your interests and background in direct email.

To LEAVE pnistaff-l, e.g. to discontinue receiving it, send an email to the same mailserver address with the message body:
