New on this site
December 2008
- The pages have ben growing during 2008. Check out particularly our section on the Berlin Natural History Museum.
- We have started to include movies from youtube and other video portals, if they are of interest for this website.
- you will also find a link to the 40 videos of the Fast Movie Festival which the Museum für Naturkunde has organized.
January 2008
Palaeo-TV is still available, but unfortunately, owing to professional occupation, there has been not much time for large updates. Meanwhile, the producer and webmaster of these pages works for the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin (Museum of Natural History, Berlin). See homepage of R. Leinfelder, if interested for more news.
These are the news:
- The domain palaeo.tv has been given up (.tv domains are not really "trustworthy"), Palaeo-TV is now only accessible under www.palaeo.de/tv . If you have bookmarked links, e.g. www.palaeo.tv/modern, just use now www.palaeo.de/tv/modern (or other urls respectively).
- Most of the pages are hosted now at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin. The move and domain change made adaptations necessary, please report broken links or other errors, thank you.
- We opened a new movie section for the Museum für Naturkunde, Berlin. Soon we will present own productions. Meanwhile you find some video clips from YouTube and the TVBerlin-Video Portal, which we incorporated in this section. See museums/Berlin

Feb. 2003:
Extensive frequently asked questions / troubleshooting support (in English and German) which tries to cover all potential problems with displaying quicktime and other media-type contents, including streaming movies. the Help-Support is available through the menu bar from all sections of palaeo.de/tv and opens in an extra window. (23. Feb.)
Improved availability for streaming movies: Streaming movies which use the internet protocol rtsp are blocked by some company firewalls. We have now reconfigured our streaming server so that streaming movies can be 'tunneled' through http (performance may be slightly lower than real rtps-protocol). Quicktime should now automatically use the 'http-tunnel' for rtsp if rtsp-ports are blocked by firewalls. See here for more or use the F&A-support (see above)(6. Feb.).
Several layout optimizations, including a simplified entrance page (to allow faster loading for analog modem users), substitution of plugin-requiring sound by non-plugin java applet (at animated starting page) and removal of tweening qt-animation on general page as well as improved adaptations for Netscape 4.x which apparently is a still widely used browser. (11. / 18.Feb.)
Plugin-Test now also tests for Quicktime-Version (24. Feb.)

- Full length 45-min. Quicktime streaming video (in German, for DSL) on Coral Reef Environments ('Lebensraum Korallenriff'), from Ritter-Video Productions. Produced as official contribution to the International Year of the Reef video. For slower connections, ISDN-/56 Modem-streaming versions and several 3-12 min. high quality clips of this remarkable educational movie are available as well. Used with permission, thanks to Ritter Video Productions (11. Feb./17. Feb.); with link to purchase a VHS-Video cassette.
